Question 2.25 Settings Help - Files TOO Big - 09-10-2007, 01:20 PM

I am running PSP version 3.5.2 and trying to rip movies using PSP Video 9 version 2.25 and DVDDecryptor. I am trying to get my movies to take up the entire PSP screen and also be as small in size (MB's) as possible. What settings do I need to set with DVDDecryptor and PSP Video 9 to achieve this? I have tried Pirates of the Caribbean and Jurassic Park, but I can not get the file size under 900MB and the movies seem to only take up about 2/3 of the screen. I have read many posts saying people are getting 2+hr movies under 500MB. Is it possible? What are the settings?

There's a setting in the PSP that switches between screen size type, give that a try. As for file size you're going to have to try different bitrates. It's battle between file size and quality as it tends to be hard to have the best of both worlds.

Use AlltoAVI with XVID encoder for your video to convert to AVI then use Red Kawa's PSP or PS3 video converter to finally convert your video to your console.

PS3 Video 9 (default)
AVC 480p 1024kbps Stereo/128kbps
AVC 720p 3072kbps Stereo/160kbps
AVC 1024p 4096kbps Stereo 160kbps

PSP Video 9 (default)
Fw3.30+AVC 480x272 768kbps Stereo/128kbps
Fw3.30+AVC 640x480 768kbps Stereo/128kbps
Fw3.30+AVC 720x480 768kbps Stereo/128kbps

Thanks for the quick reply. Is that accessed with the triangle button and switches between full screen and wide screen? I tried that and the wide screen took up 2/3 of the screen and full screen took up 1/2. I have seen some posts saying that video played off of memory cards can not be adjusted to utilize the entire PSP screen. Is that true or has that been resolved? If it has been resolved in the latest codes, please let me know what setting to adjust to achieve the entire screen.

Thanks again

The stuff I convert can take the entire screen. Setting wise I use default settings, I don't make changes to them unless it involves framerates or bitrates. Be sure you're running at least 3.30 firmware on your system.
