Default Stuck at 99% O.O - 01-31-2009, 08:11 PM

I'm trying to convert a video and its stuck at 99%. I checked the conversion details and the frames just keep adding up (even past the video's actual frames).

This happens to me too. It reaches 99% and the time remaining reaches 0. But it never reaches 100%. I left it 10 minutes, and still nothing. Am i missing something here? :S

This happens if the converter either cannot determine or incorrectly determines the length of the file being converted. If you check the "Conversion Details" there is a field that shows the size of the file in seconds... "Video length" and another above it called "Processed".

I'm currently running a conversion that I know "suffers" from this issue just to get the info for this mailing...

The source file is a DVD ripped VOB (of a home movie actually!)
It is reported as being 35 seconds long by MediaInfo, and by Videora Converter.
However I know the file is 47mins 54secs long.
The Source file size is about 700Mb and the output will be about 250Mb MPEG4 file.

Videora also reports the Source file containing data at 30 frames/sec and as having 1055 Frames (Total Frames field) and reports each one processed in the "Frames" field... Now 1055 is about the 35s that is "thinks" is the length of the source file multiplied by its frame rate, which is 30fps (35*30 =1050 frames).
I know the output will be 25fps cos thats what I asked for, and I know the output file will be 47mins 54secs long so...

((47*60)+54) = total file length in seconds = 2874
2874 * 30 frames/sec = total frames *really* in source file = 86220 ..not the 1055 reported!
2874 * 25 frames/sec = total frames in file when output *really* = 71850

So what I'm actually waiting for is for the "Frames" field to get to one of these numbers .I don't know if it reports frames processed or output. It looks like it is reporting source frames processed... so assuming that, I'm waiting for it to get to 86220.

While I've been writing and checking the info in this mailing the conversion has progressed to:

23000 frames processed in 23m 50s (my PC isn't top of the line!)
So (86220/23000) * ((23*60)+50) = estimated time of total processing *roughly*

=> 3.75 * 1430 = 5363 secs = approx 89mins 20secs (rounded)

So thats about how long I should be waiting, rather than the 2 mins or so that the progress bar reported.

And all because the file running time (video length) cannot be correctly detected...

Now you don't need all this info but there is enough here to work out how long it should be taking on your PC's spec. and then you don't need to sit in front of it watching the progress bar not working!

OK? Any questions?

It didn't "stop". You didn't wait for it to finish.

If your converting a movie find out how many minutes it is and look at the seconds left on the converter... my last movie showed half of the actual length so it was at 99% for another 4000 frames. It happens...
